Once you complete your coursework, you will be able to get started working toward the completion of your supervised work experience hours, which vary based on the type of CADC certification you wish to earn.
For instance, a CADC-I must complete 3,000 hours of supervised work experience or 2,080 hours if the candidate has earned an associate degree in behavioral science or an allied mental health profession.
A CADC-II must complete 6,000 hours of supervised work experience, regardless of any earned college degrees. A CADC-III must complete 4,000 hours, but also must have earned a bachelor’s degree. The educational requirements (315 hours) and number of practicum hours (255 hours) is the same for all three levels of CADC.
It is important to note that supervised work experience is paid work, and, in some cases, previous work at an addiction treatment facility (either paid or volunteer) work sometimes can be counted toward the total number of required supervised work experience hours.
